So, I want to buy a Boss Hoss shirt for $97,

Parents lend me $50 each so I buy it and have $3 change,

I give them back $1 each and leaves me with $1,

That means I now owe them $49 each...?

$49 + $49 = $98

So where's that other $1 gone? :dizzy:

That is a brain teaser for sure- maybe after an afternoon cocktail I can ponder it :tequila:

Give them back the $50 each that you borrowed...the rest is non sense and does not figure in to the equation.

With those dollars knocking about let's say you have 8 dollar coins, they all look identical but 1 is a counterfeit (slightly heavier than the other 7). You have a coin scale but only 2 weighings are allowed - a straighforward coins in each dish scale.

How do you determine the counterfeit in only 2 weighings?

Put 3 coins in each tray and work from there.
If it balances, then figure on the other two and weigh them.
If the 1st weighing shows imbalance then take the heavier 3 coins and weigh two of those.
If they balance then it's the other coin - that should do it!

Smart cookie award goes to Steve, should have taken about 1 minute once the 4-4 route was decided as out of bounds. Anyway, back to ship-tracking. :D
