A LaFong Vacation

The lovely and desirable Lady LaFong and I are stranded in Grant's Pass, Oregon. One wheel on our fifth wheel trailer, that has about 2000 miles on it, decided to say, "Adios" and rolled right past us in the parking lot at the big box supermarket. The bearings, hub, brake assembly and the spindle are all toast. All ground up into a fine rusty red powder. We have a replacement coming from Elkhart, Indiana in a week, at which point they're done with me. So, I will be on my back, in the dirt, changing out the axle. I suppose it will rain, the night before, just to make it a bit more pleasant for me. On the good side of all this is, it's southern Oregon. Nice weather, no smoke from the fires and we do have family in town who we can mooch off of. Kinda like Cousin Eddy in "National Lampoon's Vacation"

Enjoy the impromptu extended vacation. Remember ... When life gives you lemons ... trade them for oranges and mix with Vodka

John isn't there an rv service near your location that can r&r your rig so you don't have your lady Love hand you the tools? Should be a source of rv axles in the state?

My daughter lives in Grants Pass but I don't think she would be any help for your situation . If you think she could help you in any way let me know .

Thanks.
I have three helpers here. Wifey, my cousin, who is a big ol' galoot, and my dear friend, Jose Cuervo, who has been a tremendous comfort during this time of great stress and calamity.

Well, after 5 weeks on the road, I and the lovely and desirable Lady LaFong are safely home at the Fongderosa. It took 11 days for the new axle to arrive and 2 hours to install it. Off we went to Salem, OR for a few days to visit my cousin, Colleen LaFong, and then across to Idaho. Stayed on the Snake River for a few days, then a week in Bryce Canyon. We intended to stay at Zion for another 5-7 days, but it was packed. Mostly foreign tourists. So we left and went to Lake Mead for two days. Not much going on there. Hot and mostly abandoned. Spent a day with SQ4MN in Vegas, scarfed down at the casino buffet, 11 bucks, all you can eat, such a deal!! We're planning our next outing for Thanksgiving. Hopefully with less drama
