Boy Genius™

Post by Carl La Fong »

Just thought I'd pull my own chain a bit and show some of the stuff that I've been working on lately. Some bike stuff, some not.

Holy shit dude ... I think you earned your title "Boy Genius"! The two knifes you made are very cool, I liked the way you engraved your brother name, built the sheath and the handle ... VERY cool! The "garage" space sure tidys up the counter eh? Nice work :capwin:

Thanks.
I hope little bro patches in, so I can give him the knife.
Otherwise, it's mine.
Wifey was afraid the garage would eat up counter space. I 'splained to her that it takes up a few square inches more than the toaster and coffee maker and looks a whole lot better

Well, boy genius is a good name all right, great application of skill, clever home etching (must try that) , but working the blade shapes and all that grinding/sanding phew! I like the attention to tempering, it'll be a great knife for many years.

I like the earth magnet idea as that blade has some heft to it.

Your first one too is a serious blade, nearly a small cleaver! I like the way yo'll plan and tackle tasks most of us would shy away from.

The garage is nice router work too - adds a neat, professional touch and looks great in a kitchen.

Proving that we aren't just boys with V8 toys. I'm re-doing our kitchen here in the UK, in between working on the bike.

Yeah, I've been hacking away at the kitchen for well over a year, maybe two. I still have the tile backsplash and the floor left to do. A Boy Genius™ doesn't retire with a big income, so we've had to postpone the expensive stuff for more mundane things like property tax, food etc. Still, being able to do all of the work has turned a 20K remodel into substantially less
