Another adventure for Ron & Deb

Post by addicted08 »

Hello from Las Vegas! Ron got another wild hair so we flew out to Vegas and bought a Victory trike. We met the people and did all the paper work to buy it at about 9am on Tuesday. We hit the road at 10 am to explore Vegas and the surrounding countryside. You all know Ron so you won't be surprised......we had only been riding for about a half hour when:

And then some passers by decided to get in on the situation.

After "chatting" with the local cops, we drove down the strip.

You sure see some strange things in Vegas. Like this guy wearing a kilt.

And these 2 guys in hooded red jumpsuits that looked like long johns.

Or this guy in the Storm Trooper suit. I really have no idea what the story on any of these people is.

After seeing the sights in town, we headed north to Valley of Fire State Park. A friend of ours had told us that we should check it out so we did and it was pretty cool.

After exploring the red rocks of Valley of Fire we went back to Las Vegas so we could see the strip all lit up after dark. That is a really neat sight!

And we also checked out the lights on the Victory to see how they look.

This is the Harley Dealer on the strip.

And this is a picture just for Geezer. Look Geez, they even have McDonalds on the strip!

The Victory is a nice Trike but is still just a V Twin!

We rode through 40-50 winds yesterday and the lack of
power was obvious. This is the first V Twin I have ever
owned and I wasn't prepared for the lack of power at low
RPM's.

The Goldwing is much smoother, more powerful, and IMO
better designed except for being set up for 4'11" tall rider.

Bottom line is neither is a V-8 with an automatic transmission. :(

Wednesday was pretty uneventful. We drove from Las Vegas to Needles, CA and would not have known we crossed into CA if not for the Welcome sign. It looked just like Nevada. Anyway, we wound up in Wickenburg, AZ last night and today drove from there up to Flagstaff by way of Prescott and Sedona. Much more interesting scenery. Check it out:

From Wickenburg we drove thru Jerome which is an old mining town and it is basically built on the side of a hill. It really looks cool.

These are pictures I took as we drove around Sedona.

This building in Sedona blends in with it's background so well that I wonder if they do much business or if people pass right by and don't realize what it is.

Hey Boom Boom- The Victory Trike is very comfortable and yesterday the heated seat came in really handy! We were riding through 46 degree weather. We are gonna store this one in Phoenix, will figure out were to go with it later.

After riding around Sedona we drove north on Oak Creek Canyon road. Very pretty scenery but we were rising in elevation the whole way and dropping in temperature. By the time we got to Flagstaff it was 46 degrees! When we left Sedona it was 61. Needless to say we headed right back to the south when the Canyon road met up with I-17.
Here are some pictures as we drove through the canyon.

We are in Phoenix at the moment and I'm not sure where we will go today but you know me, if it is photo worthy I will share it with you all! :)

Well, Friday was our last day for exploring. We stayed around Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe. They sure do believe in decorating everything, bridges, overpasses and retaining walls.

Now it is time for us to go back home so we parked the Victory in a storage unit and are ready to head to the airport. Another adventure comes to an end. :(

I like the idea of what looks like storage in the rear of each fender . Sorta like a set of built in saddle bags .

Jack those side storage compartments are nice for gloves, jackets,
and small items. The added storage box that is mounted on the
trailer hitch gives you a place to store all the crap the wife insists
we bring along on trips. I have finally got Deb trained to only
pack 50% more stuff than we really need.

I bought my wife a Chevy Colbolt to drive back and forth to work . I'll bet that trike has more carry and storage space that this car does .
