Kick down

Hi all, probably another daft question but if I don’t know I don’t know. My kick down cable is frayed and sticking. I’ve been trying to identify the cable as there seems to be different ones for the TH350 transmission. I’ve looked on a couple of hot rod forums and they say for a light vehicle it’s not necessary. Any thoughts on the matter will be appreciated
