Aldan BB shocks and springs

Post by Swiss V8 »

Hi All,

Who knows the spring rating of the aldan shocks for the BB?
I mostly ride with a passenger on the BB and would like to have stronger springs for the shocks.

I weighted around 300lbs and had the 400 springs put on, and it was a bit stiff unless i added a passenger. Your best bet would be to email Aldan and describe your combined weight and that your on a Big Block bike.

Martin,
When I had my Aldan rear shocks rebuilt
(as they were leaking oil), I had new springs
installed that are rated at 450 pounds.
The reason I bumped up to 450 is my bike
would bottom out rather easily. I think my SB
bike had 300 pound springs originally.
My bike doesn't bottom out anymore.
The clearance is better.
The bike rear suspension IS stiffer.
You rode it with Jutta the last time you were here
for the National Boss Hoss rally.
I hope this gives you an idea.
I know you are going to get your rear shocks
rebuilt somewhat soon.
Bill Banks and I have spoken about this the other day,
when I was checking on things.
E-mail Bill Banks and discuss with him about
his and my conversation.
If I ride with a passenger now, my bike rides MUCH
better than with the original springs, and smoother
on pavement irregularities.
If I was going to have them redone again, I would
go with the 400 pound springs.

Actually you can probably trade your springs for the 400 lb. Springs if your's are are in mint condition .
