Leaking Braided Brake Lines

Post by The Mindless Philosopher »

I knew it would happen sooner or later: I need to replace the aged brake lines on the trike's front wheel. The right side is starting to ooze through the braided steel. The front lines below the T-coupling are the only brake components I have not replaced since buying the trike in 2014. Fortunately, I rarely use the front brakes. The rear has plenty of stopping power. But in case they might be needed, the handlebar reservoir level has not suffered. Only a drop or two seeps past the line now and then, and no air is getting in. A new pair of braided 21-1/2" long lines are on the way.

Belay my last. I misdiagnosed the problem. The brake line was not weeping. The fork was leaking and dripping on it. Both fork seals started bleeding like stuck pigs.
