Fuel leak

Post by knockdolian »

Hi all, another issue I hope you all can help me with. After filling the main tank and reserve tank with fuel I road the shor distance home. Turned the trike off and went in for 5 minutes. When I came out fuel was pouring out of the reserve fuel tank overflow. My guess is fuel from the main tank is making its way to the reserve tank. I’m guessing the change over valve is faulty. Are these valves readily available? Thanks

Cold fuel from the gas pump in the reserve tank
got hot and expanded from the heat of the
engine under the body and flowed out the
overflow tube. Just don't fill it quite as full???

No Paul, I didn’t fully fill the reserve tank for that very reason. Definitely back filling. We have a lot of Ethanol in our fuel and rubber don’t like it. I’ll put a check valve in the reserve tank feed line. That should do till I get a new valve.

That’s the one. Thanks. Think I’ll get a spair pump at the same time. Can anyone tell me which one I need for a 1901. They all have different delivery pressures?
Thanks

5-7 lbs. is what a stock Edelbrock Q-jet
1901 requires. IF you can find it over there,
Fuel Injection tubing may last longer.

Thanks Paul and Rizza. Ordered the change over valve from US. To the door with taxes 25% cheaper than if I bought it in the UK ? It’s great to be British!!
