Timing Marks on ZZ4

Post by The Mindless Philosopher »

I finally located the timing marks on the crank pulley on my 2001 ZZ4. They're etched in the back of the pulley facing the engine block. That solves the mystery of why there's a weird unmarked, sharp metal tab just above the electric water pump. At first, I was thinking the notched hump in the black composite "Water Manifold" (as it's called in the Boss Hoss Owner's Manual) was meant for timing. But, it doesn't explain the broken ground wire attached to the top Allen bolt on the timing tab. I thought it was meant for the electric water pump, but I cannot find what used to be the opposite end of that connection. Might as well remove it. It's not doing any good just hanging there.

I have 2 marks same place as yours on my 2000 sb. So is the first one that rolls around 10 BTDC and the second one 0 degrees TDC?

I removed all plugs and turn the alternator nut to rotate the crank.
