F.A.S.T. Install on 502 Bigblock bike

Post by CanuckHoss »

We started installing the F.A.S.T EFI on a 2002 502 Bigblock bike today. Looks initially like there will be no obstacles as it plunked right onto it.

Here are a few pictures...will update as we go.

Should be running this week.

My son Josh had a chance yesterday to go only a few miles as it was only about 40F.

He has ridden lots of 502 bikes and is familiar with them and their performance.

He said he grabbed some throttle at about 80 mph / 1st gear and spun..no 4 barrels..I think the EFI is going to be GOOD!! He said it is more responsive than any of the other 502 bikes I have had. Cold pavement helps a bit too.

I think this bike is a WINNER now!!

I'm not sure on your system, but you can tune in/out the "4 barrel" effect with the software. The beauty of the system is that there isn't a mechanical or vacuum secondary on the throttlebody (at least not on mine) so you can end up at WOT without ever feeling the rrrRRRRRR of a 4 barrel like you do on a carb. Some people like the sensation of that surge forward, some of us need a more linear power band as to not disrupt the traction.

Sounds like, regardless of the setup - that you're happy with the setup - so that is what matters.

Jack..I asked the Tech when the system had the aircleaner off about the 4 barrels and he showed me by twisting the throttle and watching when the second set of butterflies started to open. I am not real mechanical honestly but that would be 4 barrels no??

What you're describing is exactly that, mechanical secondaries, and 4 barrels in the throttle body. So, looks like the FAST would certainly have that effect. Hang on when they open!
