BB firing order

Post by Swiss V8 »

My BB was sitting for about 5 month. The last time I rode it, it died on the road and it had to be take back home on a tow truck.
I finally changed the ignition module and fired it up after recharging the battery and refilling gas...

It did fire up  but sounds horrible, as if the firing order is not right. It seems that I have not put the cables at the correct place on the distributor...

So please someone tell me, what's the firing order on the BB? :?:

I know the SB firing order is as B.T. first stated.

I just looked it up, and others have stated
the BB firing order may be 1 8 7 2 6 5 4 3

I am not saying this is correct...... :?

Wild Bill, chime in please !

Barry did you check both firing orders?

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2-1-8 aso.

It's the same!

Thank you anyway!
I'll put it back together tomorrow evening. people here don't like testruns with BB with straight open pipes at 9 in the evening... :screwloose:

Well done Martin, I just wish you could have run the BB to Pullman - excess rules!

I did not say It's safe to ride...
I should consider repairing the speedo (allways on top speed) and the indicators (not working at all), change the motor oil and maybe the tranny oil too.
And all of that before the Swiss Ride (Aug. 4th to 7th) :wft:

Martin, my speedo went into calibration mode sometimes without a reason. It usually went away after two or three restarts. If not, do calibration procedure but dont drive, just press the button twice.
Also make sure that speedo wire is as far as possible away from distributer.
