Chrome Rocker Box Covers.

Post by rocketsteve »

It looks like a fairly straight forward job to change round the chrome rocker box covers - but does anyone know if it can't be done before I find any snags?

Problem is the big filler cap is on the right rocker box at the front which can't be used as the tank & fuel balance pipe are in the way.

So, if I switch them round I'll have the oil filler cap on the left and clear of the tank, I'll figure out a way of dumping that engine fume pipe connected to the back of the Holley.

EDIT: Hang on a minute... are the holes in the covers the same size in which case - just swap over the oil filler cap with the breather cap?

Yep! all done in double quick time too. :D

Both Oil Filler and Breather caps along with both rubber grommets pull out then just swap it all around, don't even need to lift the tank.

The Breather pipe into the Holley has a blanking plug and a rubber pipe fitted to the Breather cap down to the road [right side].

I can top-up oil now without syringing it into the Dip Stick hole :ridding:

In case anyone else does this mod...

I've just balanced the carb using the Breather pipe connected to the back of the Holley then plugged it and laid it down just inside the left rocker cover just out of sight.

It works well and worth keeping in place.
