Second Replacement Set of Rear Turn Signals Arrived

Post by The Mindless Philosopher »

My second set of replacement rear turn signals has arrived from J&P Cycles. The first replacement set was fine until a weld broke and one of the original (17 years old) mounting brackets flopped off onto the asphalt with the left turn signal housing at about 50 MPH. Oops! That wasn't supposed to happen! There went $50-ish right down the drain after only 2 weeks of service.

Anyhow, I have another set of replacement parts. Had to spend $85 this time because of a few extra components I needed.

I won't have the new mounting brackets welded on like the originals. Instead, I'm going to drill the square metal tube that's molded into the underside of the fiberglass body and attach the new brackets by bolting them in. They will be in the same location as before, just bolted in and not welded.

At least she's still road worthy (for now). We shall see if I just jinxed it. Winding down week #3 of road worthiness since its 15 month hibernation.
