I have heard that ATI has come a long way in developing Lock Up converters that no longer destroy output shafts and overload bearings. That 1:1 ratio would go a long way in reducing engine RPM and still allow playing in 1st and 2nd gear on the bulletproof tranny. So maybe instead of an actual 3 speed ... How about a bulletproof 2 speed with an electronic Lock-Up Converter. Just flip a switch to activate and off you go ... If you say it fast enough, it sounds pretty simple
While not positive, I don't believe those lock-up converters are electronically controlled or can be controlled by a switch. I think lock-up is mechanical in-nature; basically if the converter has a lock-up RPM of 1800, it will slip / stall until reaching 1800 and lock-up above 1800. It has some clutch plates associated with it too.
I'll visit ATI after Daytona and will find-out the story on the lock-up converter, determine if applicable with our machines.
On another note, it has come to my attention that forum members on V8bikeriders aren't happy that I don't post over-there; I don't have bloody time to surf the internet and deal with every forum out there, I like this forum and will be active on this one only. Have something to say, say it here.
