$42.99....whaddya mean? That's absurd! I'm not going to pay that much! I remember it was $42.59 last year, what a rip! I think I'll stay home! (.)<

Really amazing when I heard people were carping about the rate at the Buffalo Run. Any other bike venue I've been to the rates were a lot stiffer than what they were asking. I do realize there were some different rates out there but I took for granted it was based on when someone made their reservations and how many rooms were left available. I got a good rate but made it about 4 months ago.

Dave, great job negotiating that rate at Buffalo Run and checking with the other places like Microtel. Also appreciate the time, effort and aggravation you've gone through along with Stan to bring this event together. It was incredible last year especially considering it was first year and your day job isn't party planning. Thanks a bunch...

Pulled these rates off the net last week, for the Miami Rally.

Don't know how accurate they are, but I would guess they
should be close.

As of Tuesday of this week, the Buffalo Run Hotel at the Casino
had about 25 rooms left. Last year they were booked for the
rally. The hotel has 100 rooms.

Other hotel options:

Hampton Inn - $ 76.00 per night
Holiday Inn Express - $ 82.00 per night
Super 8 - $45.00 - $ 50.00 per night
Microtel - $47.00 - $ 75.00 per night

It is getting close to time for the rally. I spent the weekend in the area riding with Ron and Deb. There are still obvious evidence in the parking lot of us being there last year. We had a nice ride and stopped to tour a cave. The tour guide wanted to hold the keys to my bike so she could push me into a deep hole. When we came out of the cave one of the workers said that are bikes had gotten more attention than the caves. Several cars had came into the parking lot looked at the bikes and left.

Aldo,

Do you hook up with Adrian & Tom? Is Dave (Squirm?) and Mike joining in?

I envy a ride like that although I'd have no stomach for it anymore if there was rain. No problem with cold or hot, but rain...no good. Bobbing the rear fender looks pretty cool...until it's wet. The 300 rear tire kicks the rooster tail right against the back of my head. Goes down my neck, down my back, down my butt crack, down my legs, and either out my pants leg or into my boots. I hate the damn rain anymore riding. Even on the BMW, no rain.

You guys have a safe, enjoyable and trouble free ride. Hope to spend more time meeting you in Miami this year.

Elliot, So this is how you are explaining that 'shrinkage' problem to your wife when it's wet and cold outside?

Steve,

That scene I describe takes away "that lovin' feelin". Get me a hot shower, drink, dinner on the table, and hand me the remote so I can watch Mixed Martial Arts or Operation Repo. Yes, I'm a scum sucking male chauvinist pig and proud of it.

Looking forward to seeing you guys again and meeting Dave for the first time. I just called the casino hotel to add another night's stay and they informed me they still have rooms available for next week.

Speaking of "rooms", there's a V8 member who was interested in splitting a room with someone looking to save a few bucks. If anyone is wanting to share a room, I'll give you his contact info. Just send me a PM.

Rain or shine, this will be a great get together. Last year was very 8-) and this year should be even better. David went above and beyond in spite of getting stuck holding the bag paying for a bunch of stuff due to sponsor committments that unfortunately evaporated. I don't know the specifics but David said DART was a great help stepping up to the plate so we could have some great eats and a big party. Way to go Dave and DART...

I just got here. Its Sunday afternoon. I went by the casino and Steve and Ponch were there already. I got a room down the street until Wednesday when I have a room at the casino through Sunday. My good friend Mike just started a job and couldn't come this year so I have an extra bed in my room if someone still needs a room. I wrote about my trip on the other site and am to lazy to write about it again. I didn't pass Aldo on the way and we both took the same route, the winds might have made him go a different way. I am looking forward to seeing all those who make it here soon. Great weather here today, sunny and real light wind, don't know how long it will last. Dave
