Wow, but I'm guessing a chunk of broomstick and a few wraps of Gorilla tape and you'd be good to go. :-)

It is too bad that you had an accident but are you really going to use that excuse to stop riding? What a pussy! At 73 I have as many years riding as you and I figure I have at least 15 more good years of riding ahead of me. So, get healed up, get that machine fixed up and get it back on the road! And no more whining.

Does someone sign you guys out of the nursing home before riding?

(I'm just busting balls, not disrespecting anyone)
Kudos to you guys... my father didn't even live to see 60 and you guys are living life the way very few people know how. Keep it up!

I ain't whining and I ain't a pussy. Ask anyone who was there that day. My arm was twisted up like a pretzel, yet i was grinning and joking the entire time. My decision to hang it up is personal thing. I have been with my wife since I was 16. She has always worried about me whenever I went riding. As I have grown older, she has become more concerned. I love her more than motorcycles. Simple as that. I'm lucky. Lucky to love the same woman for over 50 years. Lucky to have just gotten busted up a little instead of paralysed, in a coma or dead. I can enjoy the time we have left without a motorcycle. I will always miss riding, but I am multi faceted. I will still get greasy, I will still injure myself, though not as spectacularly as I did last month.

I am 75 now and still ride regularly. A couple of years ago I rode my V8 Chopper at 152 mph. Pretty fast for an ol guy on a chopper on a public road going to Laughlin, later a thought occurred to me. I thought 'what if a cop seen me and stopped me, what would I say' He would probably look at this ol fool in amazement since I had a 20 year old non DOT fake carbon fibre beanie helmet on along with my canvas four dollar Wal Mart shoes and a tee shirt without sleeves. Of course he would ask for my license and then probably ask why I was going so fast. I guess I could just tell him that there was a dance tonight back at the HOME and I had my eye on this one ol gal and didn't want to be late.

Tell the cop that you took a Viagra, by mistake, instead of your vitamin and you needed to get back before it wore off

Was hoping someone would take advantage of my “keep it up” comment. Haha.

The O.P. is doing what's "RIGHT FOR HIM".

I think my earlier suggestion, one that WOULD fit in with the O.P.'s intention of con-
tinuing to get greasy, is still a good one:

To anyone interested, I will be picking up my bike, soon and assessing the damage. I was told it was cosmetic only. The only major damage is to the radiator. I will be getting it rideable and, maybe, repairing some of the minor damage. It will remain in primer. I will then put it up for sale. Probably on eBay, not sure. This will be the opportunity to purchase the only, fully sorted out Ranger equipped BH in the world. There are others, but mine is the only one, that I am aware of, that rides and shifts like any other motorcycle. No Mickey Mouse heel assist pedal, just a clutch lever on the bars and a foot shifter, like God intended. The Ranger gearbox will be on the road long after the last Nesco has spit out its planetaries onto the pavement. Price to be determined, but it will be far less than I have into it, obviously.

It's a slow recovery. The therapist said one year, at least. My knee is the size of a basketball, but the arm is improving, slooooooowly

Glad that you're mending, even if it is too slow for your liking; I'm curious, since you've moved from Kalifornia to Texas recently, wondering if you're a redneck yet?
I still intend to drop by to say hello and to personally meet the infamous Carl LaFong.

Always was a bit of a redneck anyway. Just need an old couch for the front porch. Already got a dog. He's a bit scrawny to qualify as a dawg
