Sherry and I rode down to Texas Boss Hoss yesterday,to get a new front tire & Rifle windshield assy installed and to have Rick kinda look over our trike. One caliper wasn't centered on its rotor so the pads were worn down almost to the wear marks. Also noticed that the right side of the front fender was starting to crack by the rear fastener. It didn't look that bad but the two hour trip back to Wichita Falls caused it to completely separate on the left side while the left side was almost 3/4 separated. We're damn lucky the front fender didn't get into the tire, locking it up or throwing the shards through the radiator. It seems the 2006 models had a bad run of thin fenders so if you own that model year,I would inspect yours very closely.
Hopefully,I can get a new fender in time to get it painted & installed before LaCrosse. Might try to repair the old one with some high-strength bonding agent. If so,I'll fab some metal stiffener plates for the inside of the fender mounting points.
We sure are having some weird luck with this thing.

Senor David Ward is in route to the border (Arizona) but managed to send me a few pics of his new pride & joy. I'm going to take the liberty of sharing these with the forum members as it's quite a piece of work  .

Dave had 3 DART motors made, all the same block and basic components but different cams. This bike has the first rendition and the mildest of the cams...590 hp on the dyno. Said it sounds just like mine but has the additional 70 hp  .

A few footnotes to these pics... The paint was done by Mike Willy who does all Stan's bikes. Willy has to be one of the finest when it comes to flames. I was very intrigued by the shot of the fender because it looks as 3 dimensional as any I've seen. LOTS of depth, over and under and great color selection.

This bike has one of the new Dakota Digital instrument gauges. Lots and lots of info including being able to time the 1/4 or 1/8th mile.

The picture of Stan is priceless. I almost didn't recognize him. There's shit eating grins and then there's SHIT EATING GRINS! David told me Stan had just opened the 4 barrel on the test drive at 65 mph and the tire just sizzled. Stan looks happy...understatement of the year :D .

Rob says; "no good without pictures!" so here they is....

What torture... Get your bike home on a Sunday and fly out for a week on Monday. I did not get to ride it much but all I can say is wow... This one made 590 and the next one up made 637. :o It was nice to see the grin on Stan's face. He builds awesome bikes and supports them like no other maker. Clint I hope you make it to La Crosse and you can hop on this thing. We'll post a picture of YOUR face next!!

David

Dave,

As you saw, I put a pic of Stan after that ride on my post. I can't stop laughing every time I look at it. Stan Hughes...nothing gets him excited, level headed, not too emotional....and then that grin 8-) ! That makes a HUGE statement in my book. He definitely liked it!

I had a similar situation (not as bad as yours) in Daytona. Got the new chopper and then sick as a dog. Couldn't hardly haul my carcass up to get in the saddle. Still, no sympathy from me with that nasty yellow bike awaiting you. You lead a charmed life. ;)

Hello Fellow Friends and V8 Manics. Sorry for my lack or response lately but i completely fucked my computer and ive had trouble ever since with it. They dont take a good punch very well haha. Im waiting for some new computers to be delivered and so im on a shitty old slow laptop that is pissing me off. I wish computers were run by V8's then we would know how to fix them and how they worked. Im no good what so ever with electrics and i dont mind admitting it.

Anyway back on to the subject. This talk of engines and power and where they were made interests me greatly. Even though im a very proud English man and Brit im very fond of good ole USA and see it as a second home. I love my eccentric British Cars and V8s like Bentley and Jaguar V8's but also love my American Muscle Cars and Bikes etc as well. Unfortunately all of our UK motor industry has been Taken From us by the Germans or Indians. So we dont have much to be patriotic about with modern engines and cars. There are still some great engineers over here and awesome builders and mechanics. I run a Daimler Super V8 as 1 of my daily drivers and its great and very fast. Its a 4.0 V8 Supercharged which has been tuned and very British and comfortable but sure as hell its not all made from good ole British parts. Built over here yes but not all Brit. I know what you mean about Mexico Chevy engines and im a huge Chevy fan and always had USA Chevy's. Mexico builds some great things but as far as engines and power goes id much rather see my good friends you Americans build it from experience and passion.
I can not put the mexicans down though as they are good at building and working. I have a Mexico made Strat guitar and it plays lovely. A gorgeous guitar that is much nicer than any China build guitar. Most of my guitars are Japan or USA made but the Mexican one i can not fault apart from it was too cheap believe it or not. I would rather pay more money for a Japan made or USA made guitar but what you get for your money in Mexico is good. ............AS for engines then USA it has to be.
Ive had Ford, Chevy and Mopar and favor Chevy as my USA V8. ive had 302V8 Trikes and ZZ4 350 bikes as well as 352 Ford and 400ci Chevy and 502 Chevy. All are great lumps. The ford ran cooler and sounded great. The chevys were on the button and powerful and snotty and the Mopars are just all round great units but not so good in bikes in my opinion. My love and hunger for more power led me to fall in love with the 502 and 572 chevy which are/were my favorite engines. I loved my 502 bikes and the engine was great. Id always want one in my trucks and cars...the sound power everything. The 502 then took me to the ever amazing USA 572 which is no good in a bike as too tall and big etc etc but great in a truck or trike.
I almost commissioned a 572 custom trike to be built for me. a new pro 572ci engine with 720bhp and thats where i discovered Dart. I found out about darts pedigree and power. I read all about them and found out about their 582ci. I was amazed and thought wow what a specialist engine. Id still have a 572 in a chevy impala or a 502 vette Stingray or something special like that...id love one but for bikes and trikes i thought the Dart was perfect. This is where i met Mr David Ward and our friendship blossomed. Id always been interested in V8 Choppers but the 300bhp stock GM 350 put me off if im honest as i was used to and after more power. I was looking at buying a 300hp Chopper and putting a merlin or donavon in but heard from David and Elliot and other good sources that i could get ZZ4's and then the new Dart range and i was sold. Ive always had ZZ4's in my Kannons and Boss's and was happy to have one in my favourite choice of bike....V8 Chopper but im not here on this post to big them up as il do that on my other post haha. A Dart 520hp i shall have of course. Perfect!!!
To cut a long story short il never be happy at any engine or power and a 800ci will be going in a machine of mine at some point. Dart, Chevy, Merlin etc etc they are all V8's and great and made in USA is what makes them great so any engine in any machine id be happy As long as its a powerful V8 then FUCK it gets my vote.
Cheers

Jimbo,

Finally, someone on the Board who uses more profanity, writes longer narratives, and has more passion than me! You da' man! ;)

Having seen and driven your new chopper, I can certainly attest to the enjoyment and pride you now enjoy owning this machine. Have some great riding over there and get your big 300 lb ass (this guy is not fat folks, he's just BIG!) over to this side of the pond for some "real" riding! Best,

Elliot

You got that right!! I would suggest that you not ride either the bike OR the trike. Don't fall victim to the innocent smile with offer to "take it for a spin". I knew better but their evil hypnotic suggestion continued with more forcefulness completely cloaked in innocent kindness....but it's a trap....BEWARE!!!! That tasty tidbit has a hook in it and just like the first time you rode a V8 bike, that test ride will disrupt mental contentment and even deprive you of needed sleep. Here...."take it for a ride", they say, smiling sheepishly. I respond, "what could it hurt"? HOOK LINE AND SINKER!!!!!   DANG IT ALL...my wife is going to get very tired of this!
