LED headlight changeover

Post by CanuckHoss »

I did this changeover to my trike yesterday. I had lost low beam as is usual with stock so Josh ordered me this LED..

I have not been night riding BUT it looks cool as fuck already.

it was easy peasy once we got our techs instructions on putting the white plastic back into the ring...that can be a real PITA.

We lubed the o-ring and the spot where the plastic lays in the front piece all around. THEN Josh and Brad both turned the front piece as I inserted the plastic and it was so easy. Turning the front ring feeds the plastic easily. A 3 man job!!!!

The picture of the box shows the black LED BUT I used the clear one...just did not have the box to take a picture of.

Barry, I have a very similar one that I put in just before bike week. Nighttime is very bright, Huge difference from the h4 single bulb I had.

I converted to an LED headlight bulb
from aerostich.com a few weeks ago.
I should have done this earlier.
VERY happy being able to better see
at night !
I believe eastnmike was the first to
do this, but he did an H.I.D. conversion.
When we all rode home from dinner after
the "Dragon Assault", we all rode behind Mike.
We all could have shut our headlights off,
and STILL would have been able to see
very well !

Truck lite phase 7... 7" round MC light.
Do an eBay search and view as Lowest
Price first. You will quickly notice that
IF Kuryakyn puts their name on the box
It's gonna cost 80-100 bucks more???
$181.00 and up, still hundreds less than the
LED light that Barry and others have
chosen. I have the Truck Lite 7 and love it.
I have not run or seen what Barry has.

I had a Truck Lite installed before my Daytona Bike Week trip this Spring. It really does make a difference. The original bulb got so hot that it melted the plastic plug in the headlight housing. Had to replace it to put the Truck Lite in. You can pay more, but there's no real reason to pay more.

IF and while searching eBay for these light,
"PLEASE" make sure that the word CREE
does not appear . That means they are
foreign imported crap, IMHO.

I think Wild Bill just did that so he may have not only part numbers but a source too ...

Norm,
I looked for LED running lights (the smaller size) for several years since my headlight was LED (white) and my running lights were yellow(ish).

Kuryakyn is now making them, but only in the larger size... I bought mine from Mountain. Don't remember part number.

Barry, your light looks a lot like the
JW Speaker light that Norm bought.
I seem to remember that light being
very costly??? I think it was also the
one that in a lean over in a turn would
turn on more light to the side of the turn.
No help at all for a trike, right.

Mine is a JW Speaker clone from China that was $120 with a 2 year warranty. The JW's are about $380. The guy I bought it from said he has sold a crapload with no issues and he is local so if, by chance, something does go wrong, I can easily swap it out.

There is no name on it to reference on eBay. If you want to calculate cost to send it over from Florida, 32720, I would be happy to pick it up and send it out to you. I am going there in about 2 hours so if you want, could buy it today, would just need the size.
