Japan Hoss
Re: Japan Hoss
Looks like a road-ready Mad Max bike....
Re: Japan Hoss
Where's the coon tails, mud flaps, and dual whip antennas?!
There was one (and only one) thing I thought wasn't ghetto. That clear distributor cap was kind of cool

I fully agree on that one! The dist cap is cool. Oh, and there is one more thing I really like - it's the deeeeeeeep sound of these giant mufflers.
All the other accessories, well, I'm a strong believer in "Less is More" when it comes to accessories, but to each his own.

Olaf,
Please note...I was taught that, but it didn't work. I was also taught not to drink the ol' man's scotch and vodka when they went out while I was babysitting little sister. Didn't work. I was also taught that I shouldn't steal my mother's 1965 Impala SS396 while they were out. Didn't work.
Actually, my comments about the ghetto parts on the pictured bike were way nicer than what I was thinking. I was going to suggest the guy in Japan imported it straight from south side Chicago where it had previously belonged to that ghetto dwelling socialist thug we now have in the White House.
I too thought the mufflers sounded pretty good but that distributo cap...that was just plain cool

Re: Japan Hoss
That's an early one for sure. Maybe a 92 or 93.
Still uses the HD Wide Glide front forks. Chain
drive and pillow block bearing for the rear axle.
91's had a push forward clutch peddle. The clear
cap was used by a dealer from Minn. and that bike
was a 406". I wonder if those mufflers have
anything in them at all. Lots of electronics on it for
who knows what. Still has that chrome trim on
the fenders that Monte liked so much. I asked him
once if it was so great WHY didn't anybody put
it back on after they repainted their bike???????
Soon after the factory stopped putting it on
the bikes from the factory.

Re: Japan Hoss
Check this cat out in detail WM... Find out if he speaks English, or has a translator on his computer... would be good to hear how things are in Japan with the rare few V8 bike riders.
There are some cool elements on his bike, and a few Pokemon do-dads that aren't the rage here on this side of the pond... but still, this cat went through great length's to get a v8 between his knees!

Almost nothing worked what they tried to teach me...brought me in problems more than one time when I was young. One time, when I was 16, they put me in jail for two weeks, that woke me up

Paul,
it's amazing how much details you know about the early day's bikes. I would bet not even Monte is able to remember all these things. You must have a memory like an elephant.

Re: Japan Hoss
I love the whole bike, I really do. I don't know what all the electronics do but it is way interesting. I also liked the distributer cap and sound of the pipes. Els I don't think the guy was trying to build a chopper just doing his own thing. I was in Tokyo with Mike about five years ago and we was guests of some Japanese bikers and they mostly all had some kind of choppers. I would love to know what they think of the Hoss. This guy would be really interesting to talk to. Dave

Re: Japan Hoss
I'm as big as an elephant and have a recall of one also.
There is a BH dealer in Japan and has been since 1991.
That's how BH #2 is over there. Buys many per year.

Re: Japan Hoss
I heard that there are a quite a few V8 bikes in Japan. I remember reading about the bike scene there and how their are very few bikes over 250cc's on the road there. The story I read said they have to go through a really tough school and very expensive to register anything bigger. There has to be some cool stories about who these bikers are that go to all of the trouble and expense to import one of these giants to Japan. I heard that Kannon had sold several bikes to Japanese customers. I have met Kagi from Japan and he gave me a really cool painting of his Hoss as he was leaving the rally in Paris, Tennessee last fall. I was told his bike is Boss Hoss # 2. Aussie Rob had also talked with someone from Japan a while back. We might have to go over there someday and check it out. WM

This nice BB Kannon is in Japan.

Re: Japan Hoss
back in 2003/2004 I was looking for a better exhaust system for my BB and found out that in Japan they had to use huge car like mufflers for noise reasons.
At that time I had a real nice contact with a guy named Paul Oberheim at bosshossjapan@hotmail.com . I dont now if he is still around, but if, he might be able to contribute some more infos.
