Re: Single Speed Trans

I do know that my one speed had some sort of motor or hydraulic oil in it. It wasn't red and it didn't smell like ATF. Beyond that observation, I haven't a clue. I never changed it or had to top it off, so it coulda been whale oil, for all I know. I only ran the Nesco for a short while before changi...

Re: Single Speed Trans

That would be a two speed. The one speeds specified John Deere Hy Gard or an equivalent. If it has ATF in it, that could be problematic. ATF is much thinner than the Deere hydraulic fluid

Re: Steel front fender

I used this one on my bike. I had to tweek the bracket a bit to fit. I never liked the stock BH fender. Looks, to me, like it came off of an old 250 Allstate

Re: White smoke from breather valve

No cure other than a new engine and a 3000 mile trip?!?!?! You do realize it is an ordinary Chevrolet engine, don't you? Sounds like bad valve guides to me. If you have a basic set of tools and a Chevy repair manual, it's a half day job to pull the heads. Send them out for a valve job and bolt them ...

We did meet, once, when we rode with Adrian, Pete, SQ4MN and a few others to Palm Springs. We never had much chance to talk, though. Anyone is welcome to come by, even those who said they would kick my ass if I was closer :catfight:

Re: Mornin' Y'all

We left for a few reasons. Firstly, I just need a change. New challenges, new projects. Then there is the politics of California. Whiny liberals, sanctuary state, a moron as governor, roads that look like we had a war, gas and Diesel prices, taxes going up every day. People here are friendly, real f...

You'll be into it for over a grand once you buy a fuel pump and other ancillaries that are not included with the kit. Be sure it will fit between the upper frame rails

Re: New Topic - Old Subject...Sabertooth

The clutch turn off is based on the old one speed. A lot of slipping is required to get one going. Clutch replacement was a yearly deal. The heel assist was clumsy and a PITA. The bikes aren't a lot of fun in traffic and low speed situations. A real transmission and a clutch that works is a game cha...

Re: New Topic - Old Subject...Sabertooth

The turnoff of the Sabretooth, as I see it, is the long back end. I like my short and stout bike... now I just have to improve upon it. If you look at my bike, there is nothing that strikes anyone as odd. It looks like a stock BH, yet it has the same drive train as the Sabertooth. I don't get the s...

Crash Update

I finally picked up the bike from my friends house last night. It is surprisingly undamaged, compared to my 70 year old bones. The right crashbar is bent back a few degrees, nothing a few minutes with a Portapower won't fix and the radiator is DOA. I might need another front master cylinder and a fe...

Re: Manual transmission

Ben liked to refer to it as their proprietary Dynaclaw transmission. It was, in fact, the same Ranger III two speed that I have in my bike. The 4 speed/5 speed was a pipe dream and never progressed past a few CAD drawings and empty promises. I don't get all that length either. You can see, on my bik...

Re: New Cam

The best thing to do is to talk to a cam manufacturer and tell him what you have and what you're after. Most of these bikes, IMHO, are over cammed. It's turned into a dick measuring contest. Everyone wants the lumpy idle to impress all the squids at bike night but, the fact is, a mild RV style cam w...

Sounds like a Ranger equipped bike would be the ticket. 2:1 first, 1:1 in high. Ain't gonna bust anything in either gear. I just happen to know where one might be for sale, soon ;)
