Re: Another new owner for the BH factory

I might as well let the cat out of the bag. Negotiations, which were brokered by the legal team at Cochran, Kardashian and LaFong, have been concluded. BH will be folded into the Sabertooth Conglomerate. The new company will be called Hosstooth. The manufacturing facilities will be relocated into th...

Re: VR2 trans for sale on EBAY

That's what Bill Alexander told me about the VR-2. It could have been a great trans. A true two speed with a real reverse, but most were very poorly built

Did you have a Big Brute or something else with the VR-2 trans?
I wouldn't have one as a gift. Nothing but horror stories. I think that tattoo guy in Omaha got the only good one ever built

Sounds like me and Costco lemon ginger sesame salad dressing. It's only available for a month or so each year, so I get a case of it every year. Can't be too careful

It's been over 4 weeks since anyone has posted anything, other than a for sale ad, on the other site. Over 5 weeks since a tech post and over a year!?!? for the OT section

Re: Tear Down

It's an AFC 121.
I went ahead and moved it to the main tank line. Gets it out of the hot engine valley and is more accessible if I have a problem down the road

Re: Tear Down

So.....anyhoo...I Mickey Moused the little Purolator pump on this morning. According to specs, it puts out around 4 PSI. A hot lap to the end of the block (I've worn a groove in the road by now) was without drama. Ran almost perfect down and back. I think I still have to tinker with the timing a bit...

Re: Tear Down

I have a reserve tank, so I figured it needs to be in the line from the pump to the carb. Thinking back, it only needs to be in the line from the main tank since the reserve tank can't gravity feed. After today's usual failure, I will probably plumb it in as you described. On to today's fiasco. I th...

Re: Tear Down

20170905_162917.jpg The bike has been together for a week, or so. Everything seems good, so far. I stripped off all of the old black paint. Time for a change. It's in primer, right now. I'll get to the paint later this year or early 2018. I decided to redo my fuel lines with AN fittings, like I had...

Ever since I began riding a BH, there have been countless threads regarding transmissions. The foibles and failures of the Nesco are well known. We have read all about the Winters, the Vic Richards VR-2, the legendary Dynaclaw 5 speed, the Loch Ness Monster of transmissions, the Ranger two speed, th...

Re: Tear Down

Noise occurred last night. It was late and I was tired, so I shut the door and went up to the house to shower and eat. This morning, I returned, fired it, set the timing, 35 degrees all in, fiddled with the idle set screw and it all seems good. I will, probably, need the rest of the day to install t...

Re: Boss is down

I hear ya. Ironically, all of the modifications that I have made have rarely, if ever, contributed to my down time. The trans and clutch perform flawlessly, the water pump works well. It's always something else. 90% of my problems have been fuel related, more specifically, carburetor issues. I have ...

Re: Anyone have a belt driven waterpump installed?

Here is a better shot of the pump. It mounts up the same as the alternator but on the opposite side. There are no clearance problems, though is has to be considered a permanent change since the mount for the Jabsco pump has to be cut off

Re: Tear Down

Here is is as it stands now. The workings of the clutch release system can be seen pretty clearly. The bell crank is pulled by the cable, which pushes the booster. The booster then pushes the rod that attaches to the release fork. This is what BH used on the early clutch bikes. It was not very satis...

Re: Anyone have a belt driven waterpump installed?

Refer back to post #2 and you can click on the link to my blog to see how I built mine. It has performed flawlessly. In retrospect, I should have just plopped down the 400 bucks and bought a Meiziere remotely mounted, mechanical pump but that would have been too easy. Actually, if I hadn't had so ma...
