Re: Tach

Assume there is 12V power to the tach when the key switch is on. Check continuity (Green Wire) from the tach to the negative side of the coil. If your bike has some kind of ignition module the green tach wire may go there.

I would doubt it is the coil, if your bike starts and runs.

Re: 2nd gear light issue - serious

Gordon,

Not sure what year your bike is. On my 03-04 wiring diagram, there are wires 31 and 32. Wire 32 comes from the fuse block (bottom left fuse) and goes to the handle bar reverse switch. On the other side of the reverse switch is wire 31 that goes to the tranny.

I use one of these on an old car. http://www.batterybrain.co.uk/product/battery-brain-type-iv-gold-12v-or-24v-features-as-type-iii-but-wired-switch-11-8v/ Works well, as it opens the switch when the battery voltage drops to 11.8 Volts. You can also hide the remote control switch that makes for a nic...

Re: Brembo brake discs

Per the BH Bible:

Pads:
Wildwoods squeal with OEM pads, but brake adequately.
Brembo brakes squeal less but opinions differ if they brake slightly less well or better...
‘03 Brake Pads: both front and rear Lyndall PN 7138-Z

Not sure that is still good for your 07, but probably is.

Re: Fuel Filter

I have two of those glass filters, one on the main line and one on my auxiliary. Have been using them for about two years. The ends can came loose during installation, and went undetected for a while. I discovered a few drips from them after a few rides. I resolved the issue by tightening the hose ...

Fuel Filter

The other day, I was checking the tranny fluid with the bike jacked up and running. Noticed a large puddle forming under the bike. It was gasoline from this POS filter. It had been in service for a couple of years with no problems. Then it loosened up on it's own and was leaking profusely. https://w...

I would think if the wheel bearings are that bad, you will see some temperature rise (just a touch test) at the axle after riding it a mile or two.

Re: Defective Rear Master Cylinder: 2001 Boss Hoss

Are you using DOT 5 brake fluid? From Wikipedia: "Using DOT 5 in a DOT 3 or DOT 4 system without proper flushing will cause damage to the seals and cause brake failure."

Maybe the master cylinder components are not compatible with the brake fluid?

The earlier BHs had a reserve tank mounted in the space between the rear of the transmission and the front of the rear fender. Any chance of using that space?

Barry, I agree, the AmeriDeck is really nice. I have had mine installed in an F450 for 3 or 4 years now with no issues. It comes in handy for for much more than just the motorcycle. Have used it for the riding lawn mower, furniture, appliances, etc. I put E-Track along both sides of mine using struc...

The pilot was following and in accordance with the US FAA regulation 91.17 Alcohol or drugs that states in part:

2. No drinking within 50 feet of an aircraft.

Well, or maybe something like that....
