Hi all, Age comes to us all and I have to let my Super Sport go. Just back from near Koblenz 1,400 miles, oil did not need a top-up. Special Edition, #63/180 2007, 5.7L, 415hp, high lift cam, polished & ported, K&N 2500. Holley 4150, 750 CFM, four barrel, manual secondaries. A UK MOT certifi...

Re: Harmonic balancer cap siezed
Hi All, or few as it may be, I pulled the balancer and it deformed the puller as I did it, but it did the job safely for the balancer and crank. It revealed the very dirty timing cover it certainly looks like the balancer oil seal has gone. The replacement is BY 12562818 SBC Plastic GM Vortec this i...

Re: Harmonic balancer cap siezed
Hi guys, Episode 1 of balancer saga over. It turns out that the 'cap' is a large thick washer holding the balancer on. Due to lack of space behind the rad BH decided to secure the balancer with the washer held in by a 7/16"-20 countersunk bolt 1/4" allen socketed which centres in the count...

Re: Harmonic balancer cap siezed
Hi Carl, I also am not sure I understand... When I contacted the factory, I told them I had the issue - Me to the factory - "... I cannot remove what appears to be a protective cap in the centre of the harmonic balancer, it has a ¼” allen socket. I attach a photograph. I have tried everything ...

Harmonic balancer cap siezed
Hi all, I have a small leak coming from either my timing cover or crankshaft seal so I ordered a replacement seal and gasket and got to work stripping the front end. In the process I covered my garage floor with coolant (boy that bottom hose an the rad can shoot out coolant). I thought I'd got there...

Re: coolant temp sensor
Update: cleaned out the trans connector - problem gone.
Re: Pinging
Hi Peter,
I've done all three and pinging gone, I think mainly due to retarding the timing a few degrees but not too far to reduce power, still pulls like a train.
See you in PC next year and we'll have a toast to Wolfgang

Re: Pinging
Thanks Peter,
I'll try all three. Couldn't make PC this year, for many reasons but will be there along with Martin and the others in '22.

Hi all, Over the years I have noticed a few ocassions of slight "tinkling" under very heavy load in first gear on very hot days - it's rare but annoying, I am sure it's when the secondaries come in - Holley 4150 750 double pumper, manual secondaries. SB big cam, polished/ported, dyno'd at ...

Re: coolant temp sensor - correction trans temp light
Update: I have found a one sentence entry in "the big book" that this is the transmission temperature warning light. It was on when the trans was at 155, and I know the guage is working fine so I suspect electrical gremlins. I guess the wiring block coming out of the rear of the trans is o...

coolant temp sensor
Hi all, Took her out today and after a short refreshment stop I noticed the 'thermometer' light on in the dash. I was surprised as I'm always scanning the temp guauge - checked and it was 175 and as I have wired in a trans temp sensor, trans was 155 - strange... Also with engine running, or not, the...

Re: My new 07 Super Sport
Hi misfit, Welcome. I also have a Super sport and the nominal is BHC-3 SS on mine. Check its batch number, there were a limited number of these Super Sports, I think 180 and yes, the seat height is great, I've short legs too and ridden it on all road surfaces in the UK and Europe and can get both my...

Re: Carb rebuild.
Have you thought of a Holley double pumper, maybe the 4150. I know zip about fitment on your manifold, others on here might, but BH used Holleys for years. Mine's flawless, it's a 750 as mine has the high lift cam etc. but I am told 650 is fine in normal circumstances. There are a few used ones avai...

My Doctor advises against Oktoberfests these days but for me it is the highly likely cancellation of the European Boss Hoss Meeting that has got me down (not exactly a sober event either). :( Well, there would be nobody left anyway if we took Trump's advice: "And then I see the disinfectant whe...

Re: International Boss Hoss Meeting Pullman City 2020
Hi Peter & Bill, Yes, it will be difficult predicting the position of each country, state, region etc. In France it would be Pas de Calais, Picardy then Belgium's Wallonia then Nordhin-Westfalen, Hessen, Thuringen and Anhalt. Phew!, a beaurocratic nightmare and perfect timing for when the post-l...

International Boss Hoss Meeting Pullman City 2020
Hi all, More relevant to the Europeans, but of course all are welcome, this year things are different, very different. I was looking forward to meeting old friends and a good long ride across France, Belgium and Germany but I see that although Germany are lifting some restrictions of their lockdown,...
