Re: Why these holes?????

I keep hearing complaints of no technical posts and then I see a simple question like this posted for 26 hours and not one correct answer. A few seconds on Google and the answer could be found. So why would someone ask technical questions here? That is not an old or modified intake manifold. It is ...

Re: Why these holes?????

Oil fill tube. Value cover did not have holes especially in older cars. some have a bung welded on that will accept a PCV valve to help keep the engine free of crank pressure. Mid to late 60's corvette and camaro's had them. What? Please explain. These holes are no where near valve covers. Your inp...

Re: Vapor lock

I’ve been saying it for 15+ years... my 502 vapor locks at Daytona Bike Week unless I use a small amount of octane booster. Period. In Virginia, no problem. Pennsylvania, Maryland, North & South Carolina, no problem. Sturgis & points in between, no problem. Daytona —> vapor lock. When I’ve ...

Re: Why these holes?????

Effectively, this acts like a crude internal PCV, I’m assuming. Wondering if a trick, hidden, under-intake nitrous system was previously employed and fuel/nitrous solenoid nozzles were routed up from below the intake. WB It would be a plumbing/wiring nitemare to have the nitrous come from below. No...

I think this T.Stat was for a Ford V8 as the Autoshops over here tend to cross-reference USA vehicles if they can't find the part. We've gone off topic a bit but it's still interesting to see how others are running their bikes... So, Plan A: (Original set-up) Water pump comes on with ignition, no T...

Re: Black Hole.

What's actually getting into the engine? There does not seem to be oil or coolant coming out? If it was venting crank pressure you'd expect to feel some sort of pressure there as well as oil residue. Where is the water and nasty's that you think are entering the engine actually going? If nothing is ...

Re: Metal Rubbing Noise After Wheel Balance

IMZZ's spot on. In the old adage "if it started since you did something - that's where to start looking". The front bearings have to be snug up to the spacer or lateral forces will damage the bearings with some guys getting only 50 miles before failure of new HD bearings. I expect the HD ...

Re: Edelbrock 1901 Carb

500cfm will be fine. If you go bigger you'll just need to jet it down. The majority of the Boss' are way over carb'd and run like shit at the best of times.Remember your not at the drag strip, your not subjecting the bike to the engine loads that a heavier vehicle will see, and your basically putter...

The problem I see with any law abiding citizen no matter how well they are trained and no matter how good a shot they are when the time comes and the shit hits the fan are they going to have the willpower and the guts to shoot the gunman . We've all heard stories of people having buck fever when it...

Re: PLEASE READ AND PASS ALONG

And to that end. Remember ifyou do carry, train ,train, train, don’t just carry. Learn how to use your tools and they will do the job when required. Don’t worry about someone touching, taking or accidently getting hold of your ccw, you’ve trained, so you know better. Never carry on an empty chamber. ...

Not to start or pick a fight but if that football coach who was shot, or any other teacher were allowed to have a concealed carry on them while working there may not have been so many fatalities. Maybey not. However if you have the means to fight back and not just be an innocent target why wouldnt y...

Heard a complaint at a local venue one time. Person was saying that there were a bunch of guys in the parking lot with their pants down and rulers in there hand. They were all yelling and measuring. Re: New Cam

Just remember that it is not just about the cam. You’ll nees to address intake, fuel, timing and possibly exhaust. Each component plays a role in “usable hp and torque. The bikes do not weigh as much as a car so engines see differing loads at different rpms. There’s some consideration there to a lesse...

Re: Carburetor Vs EFI

I was not replying for the benefit of carb vs Efi. I was just sorta clarifying the mine runs as clean as issue. I too would take a properly tuned carb'd motor over a an Efi system. For 2 reasons though. First is ease of repair (even though changing metering jets in a parking lot is archaic and a bes...

Re: Carburetor Vs EFI

I agree that a carb can run as clean as efi to a certain extent. Carbs rely on physics, yes and no. The carb will run as clean as efi when properly tuned for a CERTAIN elevation. That's it. It may work ok at different elevations but not as good as when it was tuned at X elevation. You see the jets d...

Let us not forget that the trikes of yester year most likely had solid axles and not differentials. That is unless you put a dtive shaft on thet old Harley, or figured out how to spin the final drive with a belt. Let us also not forget how bad the Honda big red trikes were and how many people they k...

I also would like to add that it sounds like you have a few intelligent guys working for you. That goes a long way towards getting things done and done properly. That also helps posting relevant information that's up to date.
Thank you for your input and all your information.

Re: Failed Fuel Tank Selector Valve

Possible, but without a fuel guage in the aux tank you will only know when your main is empty and guessing how much you have left in the aux tank. You could be sitting with a dead bike and two empty tanks. Lol. They're not much fun to push. Unless you fill up every time your main is empty it would w...

Re: ZZ4 Upgrades

I'm just curious. Was there a torque value associated with the dyno run? 500 hp is cool and all, but it's the torque that really counts. What rpm is the bike happy at? Where is it making its best useable power. Just wondering that's all.

Re: Parasitic Voltage Drain.

It's really quite a simple process. These are not super complicated bikes. First remove your battery and take it to an auto parts store, have them test it. Bring it in fully charged, that way you dont need to wait all day. Anything better than 12.6v will do. You should get a printout of your battery...
