Gentlemen,

Thanks for all the responses, my 2004 BH does have a fan relay, once I replaced that everything is back to normal, I will keep a couple of spares under the seat just in case it happens again, also moved it to a spot I can access without removing the tank.

How do you check the fan? I will check it in the morning and post what I find resolves the problem.

Good day all, today on the way home my fan didn't kick in at all, temperature was up to 185 - 190 and still no fan. Sorted out the issue, the coil wasn't grounded properly so it is now and running excellent, thanks for all the help, it is a great group that come to BH owners aid when required.

How do you check the handlebar kill switch?

Yes the rotor turns, I'm going to try and run a direct power wire from the battery to the distributor battery side, will have an inline fuse and a toggle switch.
