Re: No Turn Signals
Meanwhile, I've ordered LED substitutes for the front 1157 bulbs so I won't have a mix anymore. That will make all of my lights LED except the headlight.

Re: Install Tire Balancing Beads
I haven't paid close attention because I've been distracted by squirrely running lights and turn signals, but I have not noticed any faint squealing/rubbing noises from the right front rotor since adjusting the pinch bolt. I forgot to check the heat on the rotor after shutting the trike down. I'll h...

Re: No Turn Signals
The signals slow down but none of the lights dim. According to a member on another forum, this usually indicates a low load as caused by a blown bulb, but none of the bulbs are blown. Quick flashes indicate a higher load. I'm beginning to think this variable load LED-Incandescent (mixed) flasher is ...

Re: No Turn Signals
The last set of LED's worked with the incandescents on the factory flasher since at least 2014.
After digging around the other site, I think I will poke around and see if I can find a loose ground connection somewhere.

Re: No Turn Signals
I don't think a regular flasher will work with LED signals. IF you can log into the other site do a search for a signal control unit. The other sire is back to what it used to be BUT I can't log in??? Paul H This one claims to work with a mix of both, but now I'm having my doubts. I'll look at the ...

Re: No Turn Signals
The turn signal flashes are inconsistent on the right side. I wonder if maybe the turn signal switch on the handlebar is bad and maybe that's what killed the old turn signal flasher and is shorting out the running lights?

Re: No Turn Signals
All the fuses are good. All the terminals are firmly connected. The filaments in the 1157 light bulbs are intact. Still no running lights. They were working until halfway through my ride this afternoon. But then, the signals had stopped working, too. The signals and hazard flashers are back. I wonde...

Re: No Turn Signals
Hmmm... I am perplexed. I replaced the relay and my turn signals are back but not the orange/amber front end running lights (they double as the turn signals). The running lights came on after a short delay of several seconds and remained steady until I turned the key off, but they didn't come on a s...

Resolved: No Turn Signals
All of my turn signals stopped working while out riding. The amber front running lights that double as signals won't light up, either. There are no popped fuses and no exposed wires or connectors that I can find. The signal relay is older than dirt. I'm thinking it kicked the bucket. A parts store r...

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
On the bright side, my misdiagnoses are giving me some much needed experience. This should (hopefully) help me preform more precise troubleshooting steps should I encounter such things again (God forbid). More than anything, twisting my own wrenches instead of paying someone builds my confidence in ...

Question: UV Resistant Helmet Gloss
I don't even know what to call it. Resin? Helmet clear coat? Is there some kind of clear UV resistant gloss that can be painted onto a helmet (with a brush?) to seal in stickers and decals? Silly question, because one of my helmets is already like that, so I know a product is out there. I've added a...

Latest Repairs and Minor Upgrades
My 2001 Boss Hoss ZZ4 trike (I am owner #8) sat for a little over a year after the last few problems. They were not complex issues. I was just too frustrated to deal with them given the steady stream of problems I've had since I bought the trike in December 2014. The last round occurred at the hotte...

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
It took long enough, but the pig finally turned over on its own without dumping gasoline down her gullet from a gas can. The magic trick was in changing the inline filter after permanently removing the filter that was in the carburetor, and then twisting the throttle a dozen times to prime it. All's...

I had to chew on it for the night. You both have a point. It's just frustrating. I'll get back to tinkering this weekend. It will start under its own power sooner or later.

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
The tachometer is not working. I need to wire it back up the way that it was (remove the red lead from the igntition+ switch and tie it into the white wire). That's not what the instructions say to do, but at least it did work when it was like that. The light just fried was all.

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
I had to coax it with more fuel directly to the primaries again. I'm letting it idle now, so the alternator can build a charge more rapidly than what the trickle charger can give it. This is getting old.
I won't be riding riding it to work.

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
Did you charge your new batt. before installing it??? I learned in Suzuki school that all batt. should be charged before being installed. IF current is taken out of the batt. at that point is the highest amperage it will ever charge to. We all remember the old saying that the batt. is dry charged I...

She sat for an hour in cool 55F degree air and fired back up without any fuss! Now, she just has to weather the night. Supposed to sink to 45F. Not cold by any stretch of the imagination, but on a brand new battery that was sitting on a store shelf for who knows how long before getting an alternator...

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!
Hang in there, it only gets better from now on. think ++++++++ (positive) Paul H Indeed. I had to coax it to life again by pouring gas down its gullet, but that's not surprising considering the fuel line emptied when I pulled it off the carburetor. At least it started. Waiting an hour to see if it ...
