Re: Swapped 1157 Running Lights for LED's

Here is the no-load signal flasher I am using. The brand is "Keep it Clean" and it appears to be quite popular among some hot rodding circles. https://www.ebay.com/itm/No-Load-LED-Tail-Light-Flasher-for-Painless-Wiring-Harness-car-12v-DC/253286890947?hash=item3af9133dc3:rk:1:pf:0 The termi...

Re: Swapped 1157 Running Lights for LED's

Yep.

The ones I got have white halo rings as running lights and amber centers for turn signals.

Other sellers offer the same product in different colors. Some are red, some are 100% amber, and some are 100% white. It all depends on the seller and what they're offering.

Re: Ignition Upgrade

Another great option would be MSD. It's what I have used on both my BH's. You can go with just a MSD 6A spark box or the box and billet distributor, which is what I always have done. 7,000 RPM??? Why and When?? The MSD spark box will spark the plug 5 time each time it fires below 2,500 RPM's. IMHO ...

Re: Swapped 1157 Running Lights for LED's

As far as installation goes, the Chinese knock-offs have no grip for twisting the 1157 style barrels into the sockets, so I used a pair of needle-nosed pliers as a handle. I spread them open to apply pressure against the inner edges of each barrel (there's enough of a lip). That did the trick. Nice ...

Ebay. Probably not the best source, but I figured for that price they were worth a try. I'm pretty sure I saw the same ones (brand-named, though) at J&P Cycles. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-LED-Turn-Signals-DRL-Running-Lights-1157-LED-Inserts-Amber-White-For-Harley/332810623041?ssPageName=STRK%3A...

Swapped 1157 Running Lights for LED's

I removed the amber GM 1157 dual-pole running lights/turn signals from my Boss Hoss' Harley-Davidson style bullet housings and replaced them with a set of LED's that function as amber turn signals with "white" halo running lights around the signals. They just sat there and looked at me all...

Re: Thank you for letting me join!

Speaking from experience, the newest and the fewer previous owners possible, the better. Best to purchase from a dealer of some kind who has gone over it with a fine-toothed comb. Mine was a little shy of 14 years old (2001 model built in February) when I bought it, and I'm owner #8. It's been a rea...

Good to see you back again I lost track of everyone when I was kicked off V8riders site, Over Ranger III phase 2 peeing contest, I think but I will never know for sure. It was unofficial and I never was told why. All the Ranger posts vanished along with some others and 3 passwords in a row. Call me...

On the bright side: at the rate I'm going, there won't be any square inch of this trike I am not familiar with!

Re: I Think The Handlebar Start Switch is Dying

No wiring diagram, but I'm familiar with the front end of the trike from the rear of the gas tank forward. It's laid out nicely from the factory; clean and well labeled.

Unfortunately, I'm delayed for now. A bug has me laid up in bed.

Re: I Think The Handlebar Start Switch is Dying

It's not easy being dyslexic. This looks like a good write-up, but I'm having a hard time analyzing it. I'll sort it out eventually. This looks like it might be just the thing I'm looking for, though!

Resolved: Handlebar Start Switch is Intermittent

New issue; The Curse continues (not surprised)... Turn the ignition key, and I get lights, fuel pump, water pump, and the transmission cooling fan (normal). Set the kill switch to the "Run" position. Press the "Start" switch on the handlebar, and it just sits there an stares at m...

Re: Quadrajet

Are you sure it's still fuel related and not a compound problem that the secondaries are temporarily smoothing out, masking a different issue? Too much vertical play in the distributor shaft, perhaps? Jumping timing now and then? Not trying to over-analyze this, but I've been through hell with my t...

Re: Resolved: No Turn Signals

Issue resolved. It was a loose ground wire that wasn't bolted down firmly. I don't have one of those terminal blocks. I yanked out the factory Hoss bock two or three years ago and replaced it with a Blue Sea unit. It's mounted on the right side of the frame behind the fuel tank and beside the battery.

Re: It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! MU-A-HAHAHAHA!!!

It shouldn't take that much fuel to get started. One or two pumps of the throttle should be enough for the accelerator pump to put what's needed in there to fire. A common problem with older carbs is the vacuum boots that cover the ports. Are yours torn up or dry rotted? If so, it will be drawing i...

Re: 2001 Boss Hoss Trike Rear Turn Signals Replaced

Thanks for the info, sounds like a nice upgrade. I have since discovered that Drag Specialties carries single and dual post LED replacements for old style incandescent lights 1156 and 1157. A mixed load or no load flasher unit will have to be installed for the LED's to function properly as turn sig...

Re: No Turn Signals

Now, THAT'S interesting... I started the Hoss and played with the turn signals to see if they'll still give me some love. When I twisted the throttle a wee hair, the front amber running lights came on. Then the ole light bulb over the noodle came on... The first thought that went through my mind was...

Minor bugs aside, Hossy re-enters daily commuting service tomorrow.

I quite nearly overdosed on these while ironing the pig out.
