I stretched and glued the rubber gasket letting it cure under some pressure for 48 hours and it’s staying in the trough. Now have to get the timing correct after a new head gasket.

I removed all plugs and turn the alternator nut to rotate the crank.

I have 2 marks same place as yours on my 2000 sb. So is the first one that rolls around 10 BTDC and the second one 0 degrees TDC?

I once ordered 10 or 20 eBay 40 amp relays for $0.75 each. Just checked and found 40 amp including wire harness and free shipping lot of 5 for $10.45. Thats $2.09 each. And just found 100 amp with harness and freight for $7.56. Lincoln.

I'm with bosshossman. hey Craig why the diode? i've self-wired a whole lotta relays and never needed a diode. your reply suggests across the plus and minus relay coil leads? teach me sumpin. Lincoln

Jack, I had similar problems and I mounted the fan switch in the block low on the left side b/t the first 2 cyls to ensure there is always water on the switch. the position on top of the intake made me wonder whether low 'coolant' level could render the switch inop. Lincoln

my local o'rielly did not have the Fel-Pro 1648 in house today and I think this number is made of cork. I prefer the rubber ones which are the numbers in the previous post.

so the eBay chinese gaskets (18 5/8) are 1 inch shorter than the BH trough (19 5/8) and must be stretched and glued in place on our covers because the inside trough lip is too short to hold them in place. I searched this tech forum for 'valve cover gaskets' and got 0 search results. seems off b/c I ordered and received GM factory 5.7l gaskets for center bolt covers for my 2000 sb 350 which are too short in length by ROUGHLY 1.25 inches. the dyersburg dealer parts guy says he thinks the short gaskets ...

amen to reliability. all my problems were related to all the bends in the cable and my neglect to lube it like Hogv8(jack) who lubes his annually. my needle would bounce and the drive gear tab on front axle bent to disengagement once and broke another time requiring replacement. like mark says "...

good news....I ordered the speedhut gr4.5-gps-02 today. it requires a 4.5" panel hole (just what I have) so no bezel needed. it is the 0-160 version. they have many to choose from. the bezel unscrews so I can make a nice (thin) gasket to go b/t the bezel & glass for waterproofing. i'll see ...

while researching the speedhut gps speedos I see that they are very careful to state that their units are NOT waterproof. so I am concerned about washing, getting caught riding in rain, etc. any thoughts
