Re: three wheeler progress
So much for just wire up the cruise!! Of course no matter how closely the directions were followed , and rechecked , and even speaking with the Rostra tech ( good people) , I couldn’t get it to into the troubleshooting mode which uses an LED on the servo board to help find the problem. Here is some ...

Re: three wheeler progress
I thought since two yrs has gone by I’d make an update on the ‘progress’ . It has 4000 mi on it now and it hasn’t really had any terrible problems. The converter not locking up was still bugging me , and at one point I did replace the solenoid , 4th gear switch and temp switch. But that didn’t chang...

Re: cleaning ceramic headers
I did it again . Only this time the cotton/polyester cover fell down when I had to leave, while it was hotter than I thought. Both sides got it, but the left was worse. But again, soaking it with Neverdull ,and picking away with the fingernails did the trick and left zero marks. Now its show worthy ...

"Right Stuff "is very good. I use it too after brake cleen or acetone on the pieces.
Re: Oil pan
My 2 cents is , do NOT buy an aluminum pan unless it is a from a good manufacturer. The "knockoff" pans may look nice with an attractive price tag, but the fit will give you grief. Either the radius at the corners will be wrong, or the holes will need to be filed to allow the bolts to alig...

The crossover bar won’t allow the pan to clear enough to get it out.

Re: three wheeler progress
I've been getting it ready for Daytona. So I started at the back and upgraded the light bar to a 3 wire one, and changed the led to a blue one. While Iwas re- buffing everything, I caught an edge and almost lost it to the wall, but two fingers managed to save it ! The man who painted it was here las...

Re: 2005 spider gears
The new gears and bearings only helped the vibration slightly. He's gonna bring it back next month to align the hiem joints and universal. Once the body is off , we can see whats going on . Just from an eyeball, it looks like the tail of the transmission could be lowered. I did talk with Bill at the...

Re: 2005 spider gears
Thanks, you know, I didn't even think of that . Thats pretty bad ! My Napa man found them from my seal number and o.d. of the axle. They'll be here in the morning ,but I forget what they came up as in car model. He said the bearings are made by Fisher in Germany and are of very high quality..

I'm working on a friends 05 trike that came in for a wobble at 50-55. That turned out to be a rear end alignment adjustment and its fine now even with the steering damper removed. While riding it , any time its under load there is a pretty significant vibration felt everywhere. I found the rear axle...

Re: I need advice for my (to be) V8 trike design
If you want to build your trike with a certain look that fits just what you have pictured, then I'd say go for it. You'll have to adapt to any handling limitations it will have , just be ready for it. The outsides of my tires are 63" inches apart and I'm pleased with the ride. Make sure you get...

Re: A friends bent frame
I stopped in to check the Shovelhead project at my friends the other day. He is getting around to it once again, and just bought a different tranny for it. But my guess it's gonna sit again because he just bought his buddies BigDog last month, and last week, a nicely restored 55 Ford Courier wagon w...

Re: three wheeler progress
Since its been running pretty nice lately , other than the relay problem , I decided to worry about the throttle cable breaking since the first one broke last year. I do have a spare one from Barnett, but this hokey one will get me home with no tools on a hot motor, should I need it. Very classy !
